Our Story
Shapcott & Lauber was established in 2024 in North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad by Bill Shapcott and George Lauber with a clear purpose: to bring discipline, clarity, and execution rigor to owner-led SMB construction firms navigating growth, complexity, and change—delivered through value-based, fixed-fee engagements.
From the Trades to the Business Suite
The firm’s early foundation was shaped by decades of real operating experience, a practical consulting network, and a shared belief that most contractor's don’t struggle from lack of effort, but from misalignment between how work is sold, how it is delivered, and how performance is measured.
From the beginning, the focus was never on theory or volume — it was on helping owners see the truth of their businesses and build systems that perform consistently. Earlier in their careers, both Bill and George spent time in the trades and know what it means to work in the field, manage pressure, solve problems in real time, and earn trust through results.
That practical experience shaped the way Shapcott Lauber approaches consulting today: direct, grounded, hands-on, and focused on helping construction business owners build companies that run with greater clarity, control, and consistency.
As the firm evolved, their mission sharpened. George played an instrumental role in shaping the early foundation, and as the company moved from formation into focused execution, due to health reasons, he chose to pursue other professional interests aligned with his next chapter and optionality. George still works as an important advisor for the firm.
Today, Shapcott & Lauber is solely owned and led by Bill Shapcott, building on those original principles with a focused commitment to integrating strategy, execution, and financial accountability into a single operating system—creating control, confidence, and durable enterprise value for owners.
